Douwe Bob was already on the stage of a Jewish football event on Sunday when he grabbed the microphone and said he would not perform. In posters that were shown, he saw ‘Zionism’ and blew things. His decision led to a fuss and later it turned out to be threats. VVD leader Yesilgöz expresses her horror about this:
On X she writes: “The way in which Douwe Bob acted yesterday should never be reason to threaten him. Never. And that is what apparently happens now. But you fight words with words. Always. Threat of Douwe Bob and his family, I find unacceptable. I know better than anyone what it means to receive threats.”
Anger and confusion for Zionism, but what does it mean? This made the positive term a swear word
Douwe Bob is accused of having too little knowledge of Zionism since he gives up the reason to pull the plug from his performance. The singer said he had agreed with the organization that there would be no political expressions during the event.
But Yesilgöz also pulls fire around her earlier tweet, in which she is wearing Douwe Bob Jewish hatred. With her invitation for a cup of coffee, she seems to want to pull the sting out.
The singer takes off the reaching hand of Yesilgöz, his management announced on Monday evening. The management had previously contacted the party leader via e-mail, with the request to nuance her statements on social media. “So we searched the dialogue and not she. It was our initiative. Now she pretends to be the one who wanted to talk to us instead of the other way around. Douwe Bob does not want coffee, but apologies.”
According to the management, the proposal of Yeşilgöz is “for the stage.” “If we are actually looking for a connection, it is not the best way to do this publicly or through the media. We have tried to enter into the dialogue with her after she has thrown oil on the fire with her statements, but that did not work.”
