Vuelta serial winner Primoz Roglic has reduced the gap to overall leader Remco Evenepoel in the Tour of Spain.

The Slovene Roglic from Team Jumbo-Visma distanced his competitor on the final climb of the demanding 160.3 km long 14th stage to Sierra de La Pandera and is only 1:49 minutes behind the Belgian.

The stage win went to Olympic champion Richard Carapaz, who finished eight seconds ahead of Colombian Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) and Roglic. It was the second day’s victory for the 29-year-old Ecuadorian at the 77th Vuelta, he had already triumphed on Thursday.

Jonas Koch from the Bora-hansgrohe team crossed the finish line as the best German. The 29-year-old from Schwäbisch Hall came in 93rd. The German starters are still waiting for the first stage victory in this year’s Tour of Spain.

On Sunday, the peloton is already faced with the next tricky task. The 15th stage, 152.6 km long, offers more than 4,000 meters of altitude difference and a difficult final climb in the high mountains of the Sierra Nevada.
