75 million transfer
Transfermarkt users have voted Darwin Núñez Portuguese League Player of the Season 2021/22 after a brilliant year with 26 goals for Benfica. The 23-year-old Uruguayan was very popular with the community and is far ahead of the competition. The top scorer crowned his season with the 75 million euro move to Liverpool and coach Jürgen Klopp.
Núñez won the TM election with 64.8 percent, clearly ahead of Sporting’s loanee Pablo Sarabia (5.2 percent) and Porto’s Mehdi Taremi (5.0 percent). They are followed by Otávio (4.6%) and Vitinha (2.9%), who also impressed in FC Porto jerseys. Midfielder Vitinha, meanwhile, has been signed by PSG for €41.5m – only nine Paris signings have ever been more expensive.
Election winner Núñez, who wears shirt number 27 in Liverpool, has increased his market value in Portugal from 10 million euros to 55 million euros since his arrival in 2020. RB Leipzig felt Núñez’s thirst for goals in preparation for the new season with Liverpool when he scored four goals in just 45 minutes in a friendly.

Liverpool and Núñez celebrate as they win their first title after beating Manchester City
There was also something to celebrate: With the Reds, the offensive man won the English Supercup, the so-called Community Shield, thanks to a 3-1 win against rival Manchester City. New signing Núñez put the lid on it in added time and was partly responsible for the first title of the 2022/23 season. In the 2-2 draw against Fulham on Matchday 1, he scored himself and made one assist.
