The historic event De Etstoel in Anloo will not take place this year. That became clear at the beginning of May. But after forty years the event does not cease to exist. An initiative group of volunteers will ensure a restart from next year.
The initiative group of people who want to preserve the Etstoel, together with Dorpsbelangen Anloo, the Etstoel Anloo foundation and Friends of the Magnus Church, have agreed on a new format for the event. According to them, it is very similar to the Etstoel that people are used to.
The desire was to organize the historic event in the new form this year. But the initiative group says that this is not possible because the Etstoel Anloo foundation and the Friends of the Magnus Church do not want to make the clothing and materials available at the moment. That has been promised for next year.
The initiative group of volunteers that emerged after it became known that the Etstoel will stop in its current form will group itself in a new organization. They have a desire to own the said items. As an organization, the group wants to commit itself to strengthening community spirit. This includes continuing to organize a ‘meaningful cultural-historical event around the Magnus Church’.
A legal entity will be created for the new organization with a new board. The group will also work on a business plan and apply for subsidies. According to the organization in formation, the municipality is ‘very positive about this initiative’.
Although the group indicates that there is a lot ahead of them, they say they are enthusiastic and are convinced that they can make the event happen next year. They hope to be able to count on the volunteers who have previously committed themselves to this.
