Potsdam seemed more alert, more greedy

That prompted MTV coach Tore Aleksandersen to take his first break. But even after the short break, the home team couldn’t find a recipe against the alert women from Potsdam. With her sixth point, Emonts decided the opening round for the Brandenburg women (25:19).

In the second set, too, the guests seemed more greedy, were able to parry a smashing attempt by Krystal Rivers, and time and again successfully dived after almost lost balls near the advertising board. When the guests pulled away again – this time 14:8 – coach Aleksandersen called his second time-out in the second round. She apparently acted as a wake-up call to the favorites.

With a short run they quickly came back to Potsdam (11:14). The hostesses remained snappy as the game progressed, with Rivers in particular converting numerous smashes. But the guests were also able to prevail in the second round (25:22).

Real coup at the start

In the third round, the guests initially gained a quick lead again, but it could be observed on the sidelines how Potsdam coach Guillermo Naranjo Hernandez was trying to make contact with his players with more and more gestures – too often his team left Stuttgart’s Simone Lee and Krystal Rivers scoring easy points from the outside. Despite the equalizer in the meantime, the women from Potsdam remained focused and were ultimately able to confidently win the set (25:18).

In the race for the German championship, the outsiders from Potsdam managed a real coup with their 3-0 win in Stuttgart. The next meeting will take place on Friday in Potsdam’s MBS Arena (6:30 p.m.).
