Volleyball players start the World Cup with a smooth victory in Arnhem over Kenya

The Dutch volleyball players started the World Cup in their own country with a smooth victory over Kenya. The Orange squad defeated Africa’s number 2 in Gelredome in Arnhem in three sets: 25-11 25-17 25-11. The Netherlands is organizing the World Cup together with Poland, which won the opening game against Croatia 3-1 earlier in the evening in the Vitesse stadium (25-19 21-25 25-23 25-15).

The turf in the Gelredome has been moved outside and has been replaced by three volleyball courts. The Orange squad started the World Cup on the main field, where there is room for more than 9000 spectators in the stands. About 4,500 people can sit along the other two fields. Rotterdam hosts matches from the second round of the World Cup in Ahoy, Apeldoorn in Omnisport, the final phase of the World Cup, with the final on 15 October. 24 countries participate in the tournament.
