Powervolley rejoices: Aalst (Belgium) defeated again by three sets to zero

Journalist

April 1st – 10pm – MILAN

Milan-Aalst 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-18)

Milan wins the Challenge Cup. 5 years after the triumph in Ankara, Powervolley returns to conquer an international event and this time it does so in front of the 5019 spectators of the Allianz Cloud. After the comforting 3-0 in the first leg in Belgium, coach Piazza’s team repeated the result: 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-18) in 70 minutes at Lindemans Aalst.

Milan on velvet

For president Lucio Fusaro’s team, a match started in the best possible way with aces from Brazilian playmaker Kreling and opposite number Reggers (2 each at the start of the match). In the 22 minutes that Milan needs to close the first set, the Belgian bomber is the absolute driving force: in addition to the 2 aces, he scores a block and 5 winning attacks (62% in attack). In the second set the score does not change with Allianz pushed by the play of its opposite while Aalst tries to stay in the game with the block, the strong point of the house (5 winners in the second set). But Reggers’ rotation in the serve and Caneschi’s winning attack in the center gave Milan the 2-0 which earned them the cup.

the future of the square

The third set is therefore a formality before starting the party with captain Ferre Reggers raising the cup to the sky. His first and only trophy won with Allianz before moving to Perugia. A result that rewards the work of coach Roberto Piazza, a coach who in 7 years in the shadow of the Madonnina led the club to play two championship semi-finals and win two Challenge Cups (in 2021 and yesterday). The Warsaw bench in the Polish Plusliga is ready for him.
