In Lodz the party of Perugia broke out, which conquered its first Champions League, beating the Poles of Warta Zawiercie at the tie-break, in a final of great emotions. For the club of President Gino Sitea, who triggered the party at the Atlas Arena together with the almost 200 fans following the team, is the highest point in its history and the crowning of a long pursuit at the most prestigious trophy. But the Sir has shown that it deserves success, although failing to play continuously and showing drops in intensity.

Initially Lorenzetti still kept outside Semeniuk, relying on the sextet already winning on Friday evening in the semifinal against Ankara, with Giannelli in directing and Ban Tara opposite, Solè and Loser in the center, Plotnytskyi and Ishikawa in band, with free colati. The Sir in the start lengthened on 10-6 thanks to Ben Tara (6 points in the set), suffering a first break up to 10-11 and then after a new extension of Perugia, the sextet of Michal Winiarski (who played in Trento from 2006 to 2009) brought closer to 20-19, and then yielded on the series of jokes of Herrera (an ACE) and selling the final points (25-22) Plotnytskyi. In the second set the Poles went on until 9-6, but undergoing the reaction of Perugia, which reached equal on 11-11 (Ben Tara attack), and then lengthened up to 20-18 dragged by the former Russell (9 points in the hamlet). But on the series of jokes (2 ace) of Ben Tara La Sir was brought to 22-20 and with this margin and a devastating Ishikawa was able to manage the set ending, closing (25-22) with the error in Bieniek’s beat. In the third set the Sir went on, to see itself reached on 11-11. Then with the best Plotnytskyi (6 points in the fraction) it went on until 15-13, but suffering a break on the series of kwolek jokes up to 15-17. A mental black out that launched the Zawieta ahead on 17-20 and to take the set with Esing’s final point (20-25). A great balance characterized the fourth set, with the two teams systematically forward point to point (with an Ishikawa protagonist with 7 points), with the first extension gained by the Poles on 22-22, made it possible to win the set (22-25) with the final attack of Bieniek. The Poles paid dearly the profound energies and in the tie-break the Sir immediately lengthened on 5-1 with the Loser-Ishikawa couple, but getting closer to 6-5 from an overwhelming Russell. The Sir on 10-6 again, the advantage this time was unbridgeable and Perugia went to triumph with Plotnytskyi who put the final points on the ground (15-10), after it was Ishikawa who gave the possibility of the March point. Already in the semifinal yesterday afternoon in the Polish derby with the Jastrzębski Węgiel, Warta Zawiercie had lost the first two sets, and then reassembled and winning, but in this case Perugia in the fifth set proved to be an insurmountable opponent.
