Volendam trainer Jonk wary of Telstar: “Starting again at 0-0”

List leader FC Volendam will start tomorrow afternoon as the towering favorite in the fishing derby against Telstar. Nevertheless, trainer Wim Jonk of the Volendammers does not want to know anything about a simple match against the number sixteen of the first division. “Traditionally we always have a hard time against Telstar.”

“This match also starts at 0-0. You often have a different theory,” says Jonk after his team’s final training. “We have to be well prepared and so are we. We have to put our own quality on the mat.”

Jonk can’t have Brian Plat and Derry John Murkin against Telstar. The recently contracted Bilal Ould-Chick was sick and also missing from training.

Transfers

Jonk, on the other hand, can already use the returned one right away Francesco Antonucci. Partly due to the injuries of Plat and Murkin, Volendam is also looking for additional opportunities in the defense. Jonk: “We are always looking and the competition is still long. We have three good central defenders, but it is also important that you have a good back-up. We keep our eyes open for good opportunities.”
