Sakurajima volcano erupted in southwestern Japan on Sunday. Divided by a narrow strait, the fire-breathing mountain is barely eight kilometers from the large city of Kagoshima on the southern island of Kyushu. The first images in the local media show the glow of a lava flow and thick clouds of smoke are also visible.
