Four times too heavy
The big culprit: a crane truck that crossed the bridge yesterday morning, four times heavier than the permitted twelve tons. This made the balance arm bent. According to manager Waaksaam, the vehicle has caused considerable damage.
Thanks to urgent work, shipping can pass again, but detour remains the only option for many residents. Agricultural vehicles also have to make a lot of detour via Schoorldam. “Not exactly environmentally friendly,” emphasizes Local Jaap.
The closure of the Vlotbrug is a huge damper for the Village Bridge for the umpteenth time. “Of course we think that is terrible. We wonder if the driver was good at his head with such a heavy car. It is just very annoying,” says Marianne van der Vegt of the village council.
