The party is also suing the city council of Kortrijk before Governor Decaluwé. According to Vermeersch, the city allows violations of the law and does not take action against illegal activities. “We will call the responsible politicians to order. They are not doing their job. They are closing their eyes to infringements and nuisance from all Kortrijk mosques,” said Vermeersch.
Vlaams Belang emphasizes that in their opinion Kortrijk does not need a third mosque. The party also criticizes the existing mosques: the mosque in Stasegemsestraat would cause nuisance and does not comply with fire safety regulations, while according to them the mosque on Brugsesteenweg does not fit in with the neighborhood.
