Vitesse apologizes for misconduct fans
Vitesse emphatically distanced itself from the behavior of some of the supporters on Sunday during the away match at FC Utrecht (1-1). “On behalf of all of Vitesse, I apologize for the misbehavior of part of the audience, of course especially to the people whose safety has been compromised,” says general manager Pascal van Wijk.
It went wrong after almost half an hour, when fireworks were thrown from the branch. Van Wijk: “It seems to be a retaliatory action, but it is downright incomprehensible and absolutely unacceptable that part of the profession went too far by throwing fireworks at the field and the nearby sector.”
Earlier this season, similar disturbances took place at Vitesse against FC Utrecht in Arnhem. At the time, the management of Utrecht called the behavior of its own supporters a disgrace.
