Visser opens season at 100 hurdles with 6th place at FBK Games

Nadine Visser started her season in the 100 meter hurdles somewhat hesitantly. The Dutch top athlete ran 12.95 seconds at the FBK Games in Hengelo. She finished sixth. Jamaican Britany Anderson won with a light tailwind in 12.51.

With her time, Visser remained above the limit of 12.84 for the World Athletics Championships in Eugene later this summer. The North Holland injured her hamstring this winter and took the time to rehabilitate properly. With her time she was also well above her Dutch record of 12.51, but she ran that time at the end of last season at a time when she was in top form.

“It was my first race and that always takes some getting used to,” said Visser shortly after her race, in which it still looked a bit rough. “I am happy that my injury is over and I can walk freely again. This is fine for a season opening.”
