Further reinforcements for the upcoming season: Hannover 96 reports the twelfth newcomer to the summer. This time it is a central defender.

Hannover 96 continues to work hard on a powerful squad for the upcoming second division season. The Lower Saxony presented their twelfth summer transfer on Saturday afternoon. Central defender Virgil Ghiță comes from the Polish first division club KS Cracovia. The 27-year-old signed a contract in Hanover until 2028.

“Virgil is an exceptionally faster and robust central defender,” said 96 managing director Marcus Mann about the new defensive player: “He has a good mentality, he defends forward and also tries to create and push situations in possession of the ball.”

In his previous career, Ghiță made the Belgian clubs FC Viitorul and FCV Farul as well as in Poland at Cracovia Station. Last season he was used in 31 competitive games, scored four goals and prepared three more goals. The data portal “Transfermarkt.de” estimates its market value at two million euros.

Ghiță is convinced of his move to Germany. “A new way is being broken here and I am pleased to contribute to my part from now on,” he says. “As always, I will leave everything on the pitch to help my team in the best possible way.”

Ghiță is Hanover’s twelfth new one in the current transfer period. He already played with striker Benjamin Källman at KS Cracovia. In addition, there are transfers by Waniss Taibi, Mustapha Bundu (Plymouth Argyle), Hendry Blank (RB Salzburg), Benedikt Pichler (Holstein Kiel), Bastian Allgeier (SSV Ulm), Jonas Sterner (Holstein Kiel), Maurice Neubauer (SV Elversberg) and Franz Roggow (Borussia Dortmund). In addition, Marius Wörl (Arminia Bielefeld) returns from his loan and the previous U23 loan player Hayate Matsuda (FC Mito Hollyhock) is moving up to the professionals.
