Frightening scenes in Rams Park: The cup game between the Turkish football record champions Galatasaray Istanbul and Istanbulspor (3:1) was overshadowed by a violent collision.
Former Schalke player Ahmed Kutucu collided with Istanbulspor’s goalkeeper Isa Dogan in an aerial duel shortly after the break, both fell to the ground and remained lying (46′).
Kutucu had to be put in a stable side position by his teammates, but after receiving first aid on the field he came to and was initially able to leave the field on his own. In the 52nd minute, the 25-year-old was substituted as a precaution and replaced by Ismail Jakobs, who was born in Cologne.
Dogan, on the other hand, had to be transported from the field and to the hospital in an ambulance. There was initially no official news from the clubs about the health status of both players.
Kutucu previously played an important role in the favorites’ victory in the third round of the group stage. The Gelsenkirchen native prepared Mauro Icardi’s opening goal (5th), and he scored the final score himself (33rd). Former DFB captain Ilkay Gündogan provided the preparatory work for the 3-1 win, and Lucas Torreira also scored (25′). Leroy Sané was missing with an ankle injury.
