The number of official reports for assaults against the police has fallen by almost one quarter in 2021 compared to 2020. This is apparent from figures requested by CD&V MP Franky Demon. So it seems to be going in the right direction, but we’re not there yet. That is what chief of police Yves Asselman writes in an open letter: “The way in which police officers were dealt with, conjures up an image of warfare in me.”
