The Painting The Yellow Huis by Vincent van Gogh has been cast in a special new form: LEGO. More than 180,000 stones were needed to have the work of the famous painter from Zundert in the famous building stones ‘Lego’.
The unveiling took place on Wednesday evening in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and is part of a broader cooperation project between the museum and the Danish toy manufacturer. The structure consists of five rooms and according to the museum to be precise from 182,109 Lego bricks.
The five rooms of the yellow house each tell a part of Van Gogh’s story where he made his iconic sunflower paintings. “From Vincent’s search for inspiration to his reputation as a master of color and form,” writes the museum.
LEGO World
The painting itself can also be seen in the Van Gogh Museum. The painting is from 1888 and was painted by Van Gogh in Arles in France. The LEGO variant can be seen in the museum up to and including 28 September. The work then extends, among other things, to the LEGO World event in Utrecht, which takes place in October.
It is not the first time that the museum has entered into such special collaborations. Earlier there were Van Gogh -Pokémon cards and paintings, which were so popular that they were sold for high amounts on advertising websites.
