Vincent Janssen important for Orange after hectic weeks: ‘It is a crazy story, yes’ | Orange

After 1708 days Vincent Janssen made his comeback in Orange. The Mexican Monterrey striker was directly involved in two goals for the Dutch national team. “It was hectic weeks, but in the end it’s only beautiful things.”

Getting married, wedding night, quickly to Zeist, finally training with the Dutch national team again and also making your comeback in Orange: no, it was not a quiet week for Vincent Janssen. “Hectic weeks, for sure. In a few weeks I will look back and think: wow, what happened? That is the life of a football player,” said Janssen at the NOS after the 3-2 win over Wales.

,,It is a crazy story, yes”, he continued. ,,You always have to be ready for such moments, but at the moment I certainly had not taken the Orange into account. I was not concerned with it, but in football it happens. the craziest things. This was not the craziest, but it’s nice that I can be there again, training with those guys.”

How did Janssen think it went? ,,Okay, well, I’ll help the team. I was important in the two goals. This was also what the coach had indicated: fighting for the ball and the team. We have enough guests for the 1-on-1 promotions, so I try to be a strong point of contact. It always takes some getting used to, because the level is quite high, but I can be important in my way. Did I pass my exam? That should be determined by the national coach. I tried my best.”

Future

Janssen is currently linked with a return to Europe. Antwerp FC would like to sign the Dutch striker: ,,Football is also alive in Mexico, perhaps even more than here. The people are full of passion there, so I really enjoyed these three years in Mexico. It was a great experience, I had three great years in Mexico and I’m still happy there. But we’ll see in the next few days…”
