Dekker signed a contract with IJsselmeervogels at the beginning of January, after being told by Spakenburg that he should no longer play as a winger, but as a midfielder. The stream of violent reactions and threats ultimately prevented the former player of Jong Ajax, Jong AZ and Go Ahead Eagles from making a transition.
“The reason for this decision is the threats and intimidation that Vince Gino and his family have been subjected to after the announcement of his switch to IJsselmeervogels,” can be read on the club website of Spakenburg. “Vince Gino never expected the reactions to be so intense. To protect himself and his family, he has now annulled the agreement with IJsselmeervogels.”
