The rumor that Studio Voetbal is disappearing from the TV is indeed true. The plug will also be disconnected from Andere Tijden Sport, NOS announces. “This is hitting hard,” the broadcaster said.

VI celebrity Chris Woerts is right: the plug is being pulled from Studio Voetbal. The program in which NOS experts chat about football completes the current football season and will continue to broadcast until the summer of 2026. “Andere Tijden Sport will broadcast a winter and a summer edition and then disappear from television in 2027.”

‘Hits hard’

Xander van der Wulp, editor-in-chief NOS Sport, informed the editors this morning. “This hits hard. Studio Voetbal and Andere Tijden Sport are iconic programs with a rich history. But with cuts of this magnitude, these types of choices are inevitable,” he says in a press release.

The disappearance of both programs is due to the cutbacks in 2026. “The consequences of the cutbacks for the NOS from 2027 are not yet clear. This is still being discussed with the NPO.”

Under heavy pressure

It’s a clear cut, says Xander. “Earlier this week it was announced that the sports rights of NOS Sport are also coming under heavy pressure. For example, the NPO has indicated that the Eredivisie rights cannot be extended at the same costs.”

“The extension of the contracts with the skating association and various other sports is also uncertain due to the cutbacks. Because two programs are now really disappearing, the first consequences of the cutbacks are becoming tangible.”

Sjoerd is disappointed

Sjoerd van Ramshorst, presenter of Studio Voetbal, is very sad about the disappearance of the program. “It is a shame that the program is ending. Studio Voetbal is – with almost 25 years – the longest running football talk show in the Netherlands, and I am happy that I have been working on this program with great colleagues for more than 10 years.”

“I also find it very annoying for them. Unfortunately, the reality is that cuts have to be made. That is very annoying, but above all let’s ensure that we continue to make good programs at NOS with less money.”

Very sad

Monique Tesselaar, editor-in-chief of Andere Tijden Sport, says: “It is extremely unfortunate that the beautiful title Andere Tijden Sport is ceasing to exist after 17 years. It was a good example of how two separate editorial departments (history of NTR and sport/archive of NOS Sport) can work intensively together.”

“You regularly hear an athlete say after a performance: ‘You can make this into a Different Times Sport in ten years’ time. It is a great pity that this will no longer happen.”

Low ratings

TV authority Tina Nijkamp is not surprised that it was decided to take Studio Voetbal off the air. “Not unexpected, viewing figures have been lagging far behind for some time. Only 400-500,000 viewers, far too few for NPO 1,” she writes on her analysis channel.
