After seven games without a win, SV Sandhausen celebrated another success in the 2nd Bundesliga and won their home game on Sunday against 1. FC Magdeburg 1-0 (0-0). Thus, the SVS overtook the Saxons in the table on the 11th matchday. Christian Kinsombi scored the goal of the day in the 75th minute.
Low level game
The game was more of a fighting than a high level of play from the start. Magdeburg, in 15th place ahead of SVS, was dominant and had nearly 70 percent possession. Sandhausen limited himself to defense.
However, since Magdeburg, who dominated the game, had no creative ideas in attack, there was only one great opportunity in the first half – suitable for the game after a set piece: Baris Atik failed from 25 meters to Sandhausen goalkeeper Patrick Drewes (26th minute).
More chances in the second half
The hosts had the first chance after the break: Matej Pulkrab couldn’t get the ball past Mageburg goalkeeper Dominik Reimann from five meters out (56′). Shortly afterwards, Magdeburg was lucky again: Janik Bachmann’s long-range shot landed on the crossbar (62′).
The game got better as both clubs created chances. Bockhorn (66th) and Atik (72nd) missed on the FCM side. Then Sandhausen struck: Kinsombi completed a wonderful attack down the left to take the lead. Magdeburg was no longer able to respond.

On the 12th match day, 1. FC Magdeburg will host Eintracht from Braunschweig for a promotion duel (Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 1 p.m.). A day later, Sandhausen is visiting Paderborn (1:30 p.m.).
