Second win in a row: 1. FC Kaiserslautern also won against SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday evening (January 25, 2025).

Kaiserslautern’s top scorer Ragnar Ache, who this time was only a joker, ensured the final point. Ache, 26, came on at the start of the second half and scored the winning goal in added time to make it 4-2 (1-1) (90+4). Previously, Marlon Ritter (28th), Daisuke Yokota (52nd) and Filip Kaloč (73rd) were also successful for Lautern.

“If you score four goals away from home, then you deserve to win”said Kaiserslautern’s coach Markus beginning of the sports show. “That’s why: compliments to my boys.”

In the table of the 2nd Bundesliga, Kaiserslauten (32 points) climbed to second place, at least overnight, which would guarantee direct promotion at the end of the season. But the FCK could lose this place again on Saturday, when 1. FC Köln, Hamburger SV and Karlsruher SC will play, who would overtake Lautern with (high) victories.

Red for Müller – for Fürth it is an evening to forget

In Fürth they could certainly have done without the end of this football evening. Everything had started so well for coach Jan Siewert and his players: Philipp Müller gave the team an early lead (6th). Before the break, the Fürth team also had two bad luck with Roberto Massimo (12th) and winter signing Felix Klaus (26th) hitting the post.

Branimir Hrgota later scored, but in the end two goals were too few for Fürth (68th). In the final phase, to make matters worse, Fürth’s goalscorer Müller was shown red for a hard foul (84′). However, his team only played outnumbered for a short time, then Kaiserslautern’s Jan Gyamerah was sent off with a yellow-red card for assault (86′).

“We lost the game. That can’t happen to us if you perform like that”said Fürth’s coach Jan Siewert in an interview with Sportschau. The game association remains in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga. Siewert said after the ninth defeat in the 19th league game: “We can only do this together.”
