Canada’s tennisShooting star Victoria Mboko has in her home game in Montreal Celebrated the first WTA title of your career – at 18 years.
Mboko defeated in the final of the Canadian Open After a comeback, the former world ranking Naomi Osaka with 2: 6, 6: 4, 6: 1.
In front of 11,000 enthusiastic spectators on the Center Court Mboko used eight of her nine on Thursday evening BreakOpportunities and secured the fourth victory of the week over one Grand Slam-Sieger. After success against Sofia Kenin, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina, she crowned the fairytale run against the 27 -year -old Osaka in her first WTA final – after 2:04 hours she used her first matchball.
Mboko: “Feel incredible”
“It feels incredible right now”said Mboko and added that “Words cannot really describe how the day went”. In the morning she had undergone an MRI for pain in the right wrist – in the final she faced her childhood heroine Osaka.
As number 85 in the world into the tournament
Mboko had stood outside the top 300 before the season and had started the tournament as number 85. Due to her triumph, she is now likely to be ranked 34 in the world rankings. Mboko found the moment of her triumph as a kind of “Surreal experience”she described: “I never thought that something like that would come so suddenly. I think it proves that your dreams are closer than you think.”
Osaka’s error exploited
