Eintracht Braunschweig has successfully completed the dress rehearsal for the start of the second half of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga. There was a special comeback at the last test.

The second half of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga can come for Eintracht Braunschweig: the penultimate team in the German lower house also won the second test in winter preparation on Saturday. BTSV won 4:2 (2:0) against third division team Energie Cottbus.

Particularly pleasing: full-back Marvin Rittmüller, who had been out since October due to persistent muscular problems, was back in Eintracht’s starting line-up for the first time and even scored the opening goal for the hosts (16th minute). Goal scorer Rayan Philippe increased the score to 2-0 shortly before the first break (40th).

After the break, the second-placed team from Cottbus in the 3rd league came close again. Dominik Pelivan shortened the score to 1:2 from Lausitzer’s point of view with a remarkable shot (58′). Shortly afterwards, Erik Engelhardt even managed to equalize with a header (67′). Striker Philippe with his second goal of the day (72nd) and Johan Gomez (79th) shot BTSV to victory. In the subsequent 30 minutes that were added for testing purposes, nothing more happened.

In addition to Rittmüller, the recently injured attacker Levente Szabo was also back. The duo was substituted after 45 minutes. In addition, the only winter signing to date, Lino Tempelmann (on loan from Schalke 04), was on the pitch for BTSV for the first time.

After the 2-1 win against Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli last week, Eintracht are now approaching their first competitive game of the new year with a second sense of success behind them. Next Saturday, BTSV welcomes FC Schalke 04 to the Eintracht Stadium (kick-off: 1 p.m.).
