Victoria Koblenko has traveled to Kyiv to interview the Ukrainian first lady. How did she start the conversation for the Libelle? “With a pretty bad joke to break the ice,” she says.
We constantly see Victoria Koblenko on Instagram doing the most empty-headed things, now again on the influencer island of Bali, but Libelle still wanted her for an interview with the Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska. Why? Not because Victoria can be taken so seriously, but because she of course has a similar background.
Poison flowers
How did that conversation go? Victoria talks about it at the talk show table RENZE. “I bought her a bouquet of flowers. I knew: it will take me 19, 20, 25 hours to get there, so that is limiting for gifts you can bring from the Netherlands. I therefore wanted to buy Dutch flowers in Kiev in, of course, Ukrainian colors.”
That didn’t make the first lady very happy. “The way she handled those flowers… It was so full of fear. And only later did I hear from her team that flowers are very dangerous if you hold her position, because you can sprinkle all kinds of radioactive substances or other types of poison in the petals and that is…
Very awkward
Distressing, Victoria thinks. “While flowers are something very innocent and beautiful, they have completely lost that innocence for her. Those flowers were taken by the secretary. The way she handled that was very awkward. You have to imagine that you are constantly living in that personal fear. Of course, she is also a target herself.”
How did she start the conversation? “I’m trying to break the ice a bit, because her husband obviously has a very good sense of humor and my husband made a very bad joke.”
Wrong joke
What did Victoria’s husband Evgeniy Levchenko say? “He said: ‘Yes, you should have just brought weed, because then at least they have something in the difficult circumstances. Lighten up!’”
“I saw her grin and that was of course a bad joke to break the ice, but she said that her husband could have made the joke too and that they had watched a movie together the day before. A very light-hearted comedy to lighten their lives a little,” the actress concludes.
