The victim of last night’s stabbing on the train near Meppel is a 27-year-old man of no fixed abode. The police report this. The suspects are two men (32 and 29 years old).

The eldest of them comes from Ter Apel, the other suspect, like the victim, has no permanent place of residence.

The stabbing happened yesterday around 8:20 p.m. between Zwolle and Meppel, in the intercity of The Hague with Groningen as the final station. The exact location of the incident is not known, but it happened somewhere in Overijssel.

The injured person received first aid at the station in Meppel, where the train was stopped, before being taken to hospital.

The police arrested both men on the train for possible involvement in the incident. They are still in custody and being interrogated. The reason for stabbing the victim has not yet been released.

After the stabbing, the other passengers had to get off the train for a police investigation. The passengers continued their way in another train.
