The streaming service Viaplay will continue to broadcast the European Football League and the Conference League in Finland until 2031. The current contract would have been interrupted after this year. The new, four-year contract begins in 2027.
However, Suomen Viaplay does not show the Champions League, the rights of which are this season with MTV Katsomo+. Viaplay also shows Premier League and Bundesliga, among other things.
This spring, Viaplay has tightened its terms of use and made it more difficult to share IDs outside the household.
After the renewal, the Viaplay user must set one device as the “main device”. A smart TV, Apple TV, game consoles and operators’ entertainment boxes are suitable as the main device.
This creates a “Viaplay household”, which practically means an internet connection to which the account’s main device is connected.
All devices connected to the same network automatically belong to the same Viaplay household. This makes it possible, for example, to watch the same sports broadcast on several devices at the same time, as long as the devices are connected to the same internet connection.
Sharing accounts outside the household is limited. If the account is used outside the Viaplay household network, use requires a temporary activation code. The code is entered on a mobile device, tablet or computer, after which the service can be used on that device for 14 days. At the end of the period, the code must be applied for again.
