The Viagra Boys have announced a new album entitled CAVE WORLD for July 8th. A first single has been available since April 21st as a foretaste – “Ain’t No Thief” sounds so powerful that it makes your ears burst. This confirms the statement by bassist Henrik “Benke” Höckert from last year that the live aspect is in the foreground on the new record. One can only guess what a pounding crowd the concert audience will turn into as soon as the electronic disco punk sounds.

pastor without God

The accompanying music video was implemented by the Swedish production company SNAK. In it, singer Sebastian Murphy mimics a depraved priest. In SM fashion, he puts a leather leash around the neck of one of his creditors; another member of the congregation, who is obviously disabled, cuts his forehead until it bleeds. However, his actions have an effect: the patient can walk again and unbridled ecstasy spreads through the rest of the religious community. However, there have been more enterprising fellow believers: in the end, the church collection falls into the hands of a bald-headed extortionist.

From the ape man

According to the Swedish post-punk band, their third full-length was inspired by a video about evolution: “I wrote it down so simply: ‘Who is the real ape?'” Sebastian Murphy said in a statement Humans look down on apes as primitive life forms, but we’re just this horrible, lazy society killing each other and starting wars while still being able to love and feel. Does that make them the real apes or us?” According to the musician, a lot was tried during the process of creation: First, the entire album was completed, only to be discarded later: “We let it mature for a while and then all re-recorded,” he said.

In autumn 2021, the Viagra Boys were in the headlines because of the sad news: Benjamin Vallé, founding member and guitarist of the Swedish post-punk band, died unexpectedly at the age of just 47. The band announced this via their Instagram channel on October 28, 2021.
