VfL Wolfsburg has announced the departure of five players and three coaches’ staff at the end of the season. The most prominent personnel is ex-international Kevin Behrens (34). The expiring contract of the striker routiner is also not extended as well as with attacker Bartosz Bialek (23), replacement goalkeeper Niklas Klinger (29) and the midfield talent Bennit Bröger (18), which is currently falling after a knee surgery. In addition, the contract that ended in 2026 is dissolved with the left -back Manuel Braun (20) awarded to Waldhof Mannheim.

Update 2:20 p.m.: According to the “kicker”, Bröger is facing a transfer -free move to SC Paderborn. According to information from the transfer market, the second division ascension aspirant deals with the U18 international, but an obligation depends, among other things, on the seriousness of the present injury.

Behrens, Bialek, Klinger and Bröder at VfL this season will come together on 19 competitive game operations, with 18 eliminating the first and one in the DFB Cup over three minutes on the latter. Behrens was only 142 minutes on the field (one goal/an assist). Finally, the Bremen native remained three times without an operational time. According to a signing lesson, according to media reports, the attacker had received a fine and a warning from the association in autumn. Behrens had asked for the derailment.

Klinger has been in the club since 2003 and has been part of the goalkeeper team since 2019, but he never got a professional mission. He played 34 times in the Regionalliga Nord for the reserve filed in 2021. Bialek, signed for 5 million euros from Lubin in 2020, could never do justice to his status as a great talent due to injury. From April 2021 to summer 2024, the former Polish youth international suffered three serious knee injuries. In the meantime he was awarded to Vitesse Arnheim and Kas Eupen.

In addition, athletic coach Jimmy Lohberg – this with immediate effect – also leaves the club who works in his own function. The latter, long-time assistant coach, for example from Pál Dárdai at Hertha BSC, works at VfL assistant Ralph Hasenhüttls, but also as an interface between the professional team and the youth center.
