Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg strengthened its defense on the last day of the transfer deadline.
Ghana’s national player Jonas Adjetey is coming from FC Basel for a fee worth millions and has received a contract valid until 2030. Frenchman Jeanuel Belocian is on loan from Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season. The club confirmed both transfers on Monday evening.
The 22-year-old Adjetey prefers to play in the center of the defense, but can also be used in either wing position in the back four. The 20-year-old Belocian is also a trained central defender, but is primarily expected to help out on the left side of defense.
Due to the high number of 42 goals conceded in 20 games this season as well as the injuries to Cleiton and Jenson Seelt, VfL tried to find reinforcements for the defense until the end of the changeover period.
The Englishman Charlie Cresswell (FC Toulouse), the Belgian Matte Smets (KRC Genk) and the Nigerian Raphael Onyedika (FC Brugge) were also discussed in Wolfsburg.
