VfL Wolfsburg will prematurely end the cooperation with SKN St. Pölten, which has been running since July 2021. The Austrian second division team announced on Monday that the German Bundesliga club will exercise its right to terminate the contract in the summer if SKN does not manage to return to the first division. The club is currently in sixth place and is 15 points behind league leaders Grazer AK.

Wolfsburg announced the cooperation, which was actually planned until 2025, almost three years ago in the wake of the dissolution of the U23. First and foremost, young, talented players should be developed in Austria in order to make up for the missing foundation. Ulysses Llanez, Lino Kasten and Yun-sang Hong have been awarded since 2021. Llanez is still waiting for his first appearance for the VfL professionals; the latter two have long since left the Wolves without playing for the first team.
