Tobias Strobl amusedly brushed aside the rumors about a possible move to Karlsruher SC at the beginning of April, but VfL Wolfsburg softened the SC Verl coach two months later. The Wolves, who were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time, want to tackle the resurgence project with the 38-year-old – under the supervision of Dieter Hecking, who was recently promoted to sports director.
As “Sport1”, the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung” and “Sky” all report, only the final details are missing so that Strobl can soon be presented as the new Wolfsburg coach. Due to his current contract, VfL is due a transfer fee. The native of Ingolstadt and former reserve coach of FC Augsburg joined Verl in the summer, where he gained attention in Lower Saxony. The East Westphalia team finished their best season in history in sixth place in the 3rd league.
Strobl is supposed to lead the rebuilding of Wolfsburg and bring the club back towards the Bundesliga. According to reports, Hecking, who was recently unable to prevent relegation as coach, is seen as a driving force behind Strobl’s commitment. According to “Sport1”, the coach was also the topic at Arminia Bielefeld for the successor to Mitch Kniat.

“I was rather amused by it because the topic doesn’t affect me at all and it’s not an issue at the club either,” explained Strobl in an interview with “Neue Westfälische” when he was brought into contact with the KSC. “Nothing is pulling me away from here.” Then came the advertising from Wolfsburg.
