Vfl coach Kohfeldt sees no “low form” for Leverkusen

Wolfsburg (AP) – Bundesliga soccer club VfL Wolfsburg is not preparing for an opponent weakened by the Europa League.

“I don’t have the impression that Bayer Leverkusen is in a low form,” said VfL coach Florian Kohfeldt at the press conference before the game on Sunday (5:30 p.m. / Dazn). “I can’t see the performance dropping. We’re preparing for an opponent who is at the top level.”

Against the third in the table, who was dismissed from the round of 16 by the Italian club Atalanta Bergamo on Thursday, the Lower Saxony would like to take advantage of the physical freshness of a complete week of training: “We want to try to bring an intensive game onto the pitch.”

The Wolfsburg should theoretically welcome 30,000 spectators at the weekend. Because of the 2G rule that still applies, the club expects the arena to be half full. Captain Koen Casteels is still out in goal. The recovered Lukas Nmecha could return to the starting eleven and replace the sick Maximilian Philipp.
