VfL Bochum ties “leader” Ivan Ordets thanks to special FIFA regulations

Loaned from Dinamo Moscow

VfL Bochum can continue to rely on the services of central defender Ivan Ordets. The 30-year-old Ukrainian was previously on loan from Dinamo Moscow. The Revierklub was able to retain the veteran thanks to an extended special FIFA regulation that allows foreign professionals under contract in Russia to join other clubs.

Ordets (33 season appearances), contractually bound in Moscow until June 2024, will remain at VfL until that date. Afterwards, the Bundesliga side can sign the defender for two more years, explained Marc Lettau, Bochum’s technical director. “Ivan Ordets was a key player in our team last season. His robustness, duel and header power helped us defensively and offensively. He is a leader and should continue to give our defense support and stability in the future. We are happy that Ivan has decided to stay at VfL and that we will continue on our common path,” said Lettau.
