VfB Stuttgart will probably sell Darko Churlinov to Burnley – Kompany decisive

Medical check on Saturday?

Darko Churlinov will apparently leave VfB Stuttgart permanently. As “Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg reported, the 22-year-old attacking player joins Burnley FC. Contrary to what was last suspected, this should be a fixed transfer – and not a new loan.

Everything is clear between the parties involved and a final agreement has been reached. It is said that VfB collected more than 5 million euros for Churlinov including bonus payments. Also “Sport1” reporter Patrick Berger reports of an upcoming transfer. Churlinov is scheduled to complete the medical check on Saturday and sign until 2026.

The decisive factor for his move to Burnley is the new coach Vincent Kompany. The former professional switched from RSC Anderlecht to the Premier League relegated team this summer, where he became the highest-paid coach in the championship. Anderlecht was also recently traded as a possible buyer for Churlinov, who is contractually bound to Stuttgart until 2024.

“That’s not the plan,” said VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat at the end of July when asked if Churlinov still wanted to be sold. Last year he was active on loan for promoted Schalke 04 – a longer engagement with the Royal Blues was in the meantime in the room, but not concrete. “Darko has always made it very clear that if Schalke can’t finalize that at the time, he’s definitely a VfB player.” At the start of the season, Churlinov made two appearances in the league and in the cup, played 75 minutes and delivered a goal in advancing against Dresden. With good preparation and the goal against Dynamo, Churlinov “definitely gathered arguments to be an important factor for the season,” said Mislintat at the time.
