VfB Stuttgart wants to hold talks with 2 coach candidates

Club boss Wehrle confirmed

VfB Stuttgart, threatened with relegation, has decided on two coach candidates and now wants to start negotiations quickly. “We’re going to do that now, that we’ll have two talks with the candidates, who we’re convinced will accept the situation and continue to develop VfB,” said CEO Alexander Wehrle before the landmark home game on Saturday against VfL Bochum “Sky” (to the live ticker): “We will make a decision promptly.”

Wehrle also emphasized that neither of the two candidates had “been traded in public” so far. “That’s a good sign.” The club boss also said that many names that were recently traded in public “were not on the list at all”, and Wehrle also wanted to classify the alleged refusals to VfB: “Names were also traded there who supposedly canceled us. They called us and were perhaps offended that we didn’t have a conversation.”

“Sky” reported on Friday that massive discrepancies between Wehrle and sports director Sven Mislintat would complicate the search for a successor to the released Pellegrino Matarazzo. Accordingly, candidates such as Domenico Tedesco, Zsolt Löw and Sebastian Hoeneß are said to have canceled.

“If we had a massive problem, how could we have handled 17 transfer activities?” Wehrle said when asked about the relationship with Mislintat. Talks have already been held about the sports director’s expiring contract, “more will follow,” said Wehrle. “Sky” had also reported that if Mislintat left VfB, the club boss had already spoken to Horst Heldt. Wehrle had denied this on Friday: “I have negotiated neither with a sports director nor with a coach.”
