At VfB Stuttgart, the contracts of four professionals expire at the end of the season (excluding loan players). This includes Silas, who has only played a minor role in the Swabians’ plans in the recent past. The club has apparently not written off the 27-year-old and even wants to extend his contract. Meanwhile, a talent from Manchester City’s own youth ranks is being watched.

However, VfB only wants to extend Silas on the condition that there is a club that will loan him out next winter and give him match practice. The interested parties are Samsunspor, FC Cincinnati, the New York Red Bulls and called Valencia FC.
Silas last played for VfB in August 2024 when he came on as a substitute in the DFL Supercup against Bayer Leverkusen (5:6 a.e.). He was then loaned to Red Star Belgrade for a year, where he contributed seven goals and one assist in 27 appearances. During this time, its market value fell from 10 million to 7 million euros. In the most recent Bundesliga update it fell further to 4 million euros. Silas suffered an ankle injury last March and has been working on his comeback ever since. VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß recently gave hope for a speedy return.

Silas is not an option for the Europa League duel with Fenerbahce on Thursday (6:45 p.m.) because he was not registered for the competition. But he could possibly be called back into the squad for the league game against Mainz on Sunday (5:30 p.m.).
Silas moved from Paris FC to VfB in the summer of 2019 for a fee of 8 million euros, making him one of the 15 most expensive purchases in the club’s history. The 20-time national player has played 132 games for the Swabians so far and contributed 35 goals and 21 assists.
Manchester City is watching VfB talent Mirza Catovic
While an extension is being discussed around Silas, talent Mirza Catovic (18) from the second team has become the focus of Manchester City. Loud “SkyThe top English club is monitoring the 18-year-old midfielder and wanted to sign him at the beginning of this year. However, Catovic decided at the time to extend his contract until 2028.

In the most recent market value update, he went from 800,000 to 1.2 million euros, making him the joint most valuable player at VfB II. Catovic is still waiting for his professional debut; he was on the bench twice in the Europa League. There is talk that he wants to assert himself at VfB and is not thinking about a change.
