VfB Stuttgart | Offer too low? Kalajdzic has to wait and is missing at 1. FC Köln

The courted Sasa Kalajdzic will not play against 1. FC Köln on Sunday afternoon (3:30 p.m.), that has been certain since Saturday afternoon. But there will probably not be a quick farewell to England, as is now becoming clear.

He was traded at FC Bayern, he was an issue at Borussia Dortmund, but Sasa Kalajdzic from VfB Stuttgart is apparently drawn to the island. In the last few days, the interest of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers is said to have increased. According to media reports, the star striker and his potential new club are now basically in agreement about a change.

So much so that Kalajdzic recently asked that he no longer have to take part in training with the Bundesliga soccer club in order to avoid injuries. The Austrian is also not in the squad for the away game at 1. FC Köln on Sunday “at the player’s request and in consultation with coach Pellegrino Matarazzo”, as the Swabians announced. So is everything going really fast now? Obviously not.

Sports director Sven Mislintat recently confirmed the Wolves’ advertising: “It’s actually the case that there are the first interests from England, the Wolves are part of it”. However, he added: “It is not really concrete on either side at this point in time.”

VfB sticks to the call for Kalajdzic

“Sky” has now confirmed that the first round of negotiations between the two parties has not yet been concluded. The England club is said to have submitted a first offer for Kalajdzic on Saturday evening.

This included a base fee of 15 million euros. Not enough for VfB, who probably want to redeem up to 25 million euros by selling the attacker.

Accordingly, Mislintat is said to have rejected the offer. Wolverhampton must now improve. The current eighteenth-placed Premier League side is expected to do so in a timely manner for the move to go through this summer. The transfer window closes on Thursday.

Kalajdzic has been playing in Stuttgart since 2019, his current contract expires at the end of the season. There is also speculation at VfB about a short-term change from left-back Borna Sosa.
