After a phone call to coach Stefan Kuntz, defender Atakan Karazor underlined his plans to play for the Turkish national team in the future. Whether the 25-year-old will continue until his contract ends in 2023 or even beyond at VfB Stuttgart also depends on which league he is in.
“I was very happy to get the call. And I would also like to play for Turkey. There are currently a few bureaucratic issues. It would be important for me to keep German citizenship. My advisor is currently dealing with this. Because I want to concentrate exclusively on VfB now,” explained Karazor in one “Image” interview.
The Essen-born professional switched from Holstein Kiel to VfB in 2019 for 800,000 euros. Since then he has made 65 appearances, two goals and two assists for the Swabians. In the last seven Bundesliga games, Karazor was in the starting line-up and played in defensive midfield. The right-footed player doesn’t want to know anything about negotiations with his club at the moment.

Extension at VfB Stuttgart? Karazor is in no hurry
“I want to focus fully on the sport, contract talks might distract me. Of course, whether we stay in the league also plays a role. The fact is: I feel very comfortable in Stuttgart – I found happiness here with my Swabian girlfriend,” said Karazor.
