VfB Stuttgart | FC Bayern is also thinking about a new Nübel deal

FC Bayern has extended the contracts with its veteran goalkeepers Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich – and in doing so also sent a clear message to Alexander Nübel, who has been playing on loan for VfB Stuttgart since the start of the season. Apparently the people of Munich are now thinking about extending Nübel’s working paper.

First get things done with Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, then also with Alexander Nübel? According to “Stuttgarter Nachrichten”, this is definitely a thought game that is being discussed by those responsible at FC Bayern.

Of course, the 27-year-old would hardly have a chance of playing time if his contract was extended early. The background to the considerations is rather to be able to award the goalkeeper for a fourth year in a row. Nübel’s contract with the record champions expires in the summer of 2025.

Contract extension at FC Bayern not an option for Nübel?

An extension would enable FC Bayern to decide again after the 2024/25 season whether the time has finally come for Alexander Nübel at FC Bayern. Then the newly agreed contracts of Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich will end, and the duo’s career may then come to an end.

However, as the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” reports, such a scenario would by no means be an option for Nübel. The goalkeeper has long since played his way into the shop window with good performances during his two-year loan in Monaco and at the start of the season at VfB Stuttgart. According to the report, Nübel is in demand on the transfer market, and the Swabians are already discussing ways in which they can keep the loan player beyond the season.

“Of course we will try to continue working with him beyond the summer. We are working on this issue, but of course there are several parties at the negotiating table,” said Stuttgart sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth recently in “Sport Bild”.

In the summer, FC Bayern also signed another goalkeeper, Daniel Peretz. The Israeli was given a contract until 2028.
