Vettel-Team Aston Martin gets new team boss

Gaydon (AP) – Sebastian Vettel has a new team boss. The British Formula 1 racing team Aston Martin brought in long-standing, high-ranking BMW Motorsport employee Mike Krack to succeed Otmar Szafnauer.

He left the team after many years and is expected to join competitor Alpine. Krack has known the four-time world champion Vettel since their time together at BMW-Sauber around a decade and a half ago. At the time, Krack was employed as an engineer at Sauber. “It’s fantastic to be reunited with him,” emphasized Vettel’s new boss, adding: “We’ll work incredibly hard, we want to win. Together we will.”

A first highlight of his new term of office will be the presentation of the racing car for the coming season on February 10 – online. The AMR22 will then be unveiled at the British carmaker’s headquarters in Gaydon. It is the second car of the team, which returned to the premier motorsport class last season but was unable to fulfill its high hopes and ambitions.

The cars for the coming season will differ significantly from their predecessor models after drastic aerodynamic changes. It remains to be seen to what extent the rule modifications will also affect the balance of power. The season with a total of 23 races starts on March 20th in Bahrain.
