On Monday afternoon, 21 jerry cans with a dangerous content were found in a forest area on the Oude Spoorbaan in Goirle. What exactly is in it is still unclear. After mercury fumes were found in measurements, the investigation was stopped. The origin is unknown.
Employees of the environmental technical company that was engaged for this, Strukton, are now waiting for the police. An area around the location is closed. Cleaning up can still take hours.
After the find was reported, the Diamant group in Tilburg was engaged earlier in the day to clean up.
Mayor Mark van Stappershoef was also informed at the beginning of the evening. He immediately came to take a look.
