The late Vesa-Matti Loiri would have celebrated a big anniversary today.
The late multi-virtuoso Vesa-Matti Loiri would have turned 80 today. Loiri died on August 10, 2022 when he was 77 years old.
Loiri was born exactly 80 years ago at Helsinki Women’s Clinic at 5:05 am. The parents of the 3.66 kg baby were technical draftsmen Taito Loiri and a nanny Lily Loiri. Loiri spent his childhood first in Töölö and later in Haaga. Father Taito would have wanted his son to become an engineer, but it turned out differently.
Loiri started acting in the 1960s. He played his first film role in the film Boys in 1962. Loiri was 17 years old during the filming. Inspired by his role performance, Loiri applied to theater school. Through school, he advanced to the role of Vihtori Kosola in the 1966 musical play Lapland operawhich became the most famous musical play of the 1960s.
The rest is history.
Loir’s acting career lasted for about 60 years. In addition, the multi-virtuoso became known as a musician, comedian, singer and athlete.
