According to a spokesperson for the safety region, it is unknown what exactly is in the building and what is on fire. At 9:45 p.m., according to the spokesperson, the fire brigade was still ‘working hard’ to contain the fire.
A demolition crane is also working to demolish the building, so that the fire brigade can better reach the fires to extinguish the fire in a more targeted manner.
The first reports of the fire on the Vaart were received by the emergency services around 7:15 p.m. Because the fire threatened to spread to surrounding buildings, the fire was quickly scaled up from ‘major fire’ to ‘very major fire’ and ‘GRIP 1’.

Major damage to the property
The damage is extensive, windows are broken and a huge fire is raging in the building.
The fire released a thick, black cloud of smoke, which, according to the spokesperson, is blowing across the industrial estate towards Spierdijk and Hoorn. Local residents are therefore advised to close windows and doors and switch off ventilation systems.
