The first report of the fire came to the fire brigade control room around 1:30 p.m. Several emergency services responded to the fire. The fire brigade scaled up quite quickly to the so-called Grip 1. This means that coordination between the various emergency services is required during the incident.
Black clouds of smoke and asbestos
According to the safety region, the fire is raging at a car company and an adjacent building where fairground items are stored, including plush bears.
According to NH reporter Tom van Midden, black smoke can be seen moving towards the village. Several explosions can also be heard, probably caused by car tires exploding due to the heat.
A spokesperson for the safety region said that asbestos was probably also released during the fire. “It is located on the roofs of both buildings. But we do not yet know where exactly it is spreading. We are now going to map that out.” The fire brigade also managed to remove a number of gas bottles from the building where the car company is located.
