The Finnish cross-country skiing cup on Saturday in Tampere will start as planned at 12:15.
The weather is harsh, because around 11 o’clock the readings were 20 degrees below zero. It is the official frost limit for competitions.
The frost is predicted to cool down by a few degrees during the day.
The jury of the competition decided at around 11:15 that the event will take place. There is hardly any wind at the skiing and baseball stadium in Kaup.
The men will ski a 15-kilometer traditional-style split start from 12:15 p.m., and the women will ski the same distance from 2:30 p.m.
The only club

Finnish skiers selected for the Olympic Games have registered for Saturday’s Suomen Cup Cross mat Hakola and Amanda Saari.
Saari represents the organizing club Tampereen Pyrintö. It is the only Finnish club whose athletes have participated in both the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
In Paris, among the athletes of the Tampere club, there were general athletes Reetta Hurske, Lotta Harala, Saga Vanninen, Urho Kujanpää and Ella Junnila.
According to the original schedule, the competition in Tampere was supposed to start at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, but the judges’ council decided to postpone the start of the games by two hours on Friday.
