The 14th challenge of the season was played over 44 laps on the 7-kilometer Spa-Francorchamps Circuit in the town of Stavelot in the province of Liege.


Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who started the race from 14th place, took the lead from Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) on lap 18 with the help of the safety car that entered the track on lap 2.


Having a comfortable race in the remaining section, Verstappen reached the 9th race of the season and the 29th race of his career.


Sergio Perez finished 2nd, 17.8 seconds behind teammate Verstappen. Sainz in the “pole position” finished 3rd, 26.8 seconds behind the leader.


Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who is expected to fight for the championship with Verstappen at the beginning of the season, finished the fight in 6th place with a 5-second penalty in the last lap.


Increasing his score to 284, the leader of the drivers’ classification, Verstappen, increased the difference between him and Perez, who rose to 2nd place in the championship, to 93 points.


The 15th race of the season, the Dutch Grand Prix, will be held on 4 September.
