Verrips is missing at Fortuna after positive corona test | 1Limburg

Michael Verrips is missing on Saturday evening at Fortuna Sittard’s competition match against SC Heerenveen. The goalkeeper has tested positive for the coronavirus and is in quarantine.

As a result, trainer Sjors Ultee will probably call on Yanick van Osch again.

Preference
Verrips was taken over by Fortuna Sittard from Sheffield United last month. The 25-year-old goalkeeper was preferred over Van Osch, who was allowed to keep all matches until that moment. Verrips was directly under the bar in the duels with AZ and RKC Waalwijk, both of which ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Sittardians. Due to the positive corona test, Verrips will be absent from the home game against SC Heerenveen on Saturday.

Important series
With the match against SC Heerenveen, Fortuna starts an important series in the fight against relegation. After the match against the Frisians, duels against FC Groningen, Sparta Rotterdam, SC Cambuur, PEC Zwolle and Willem II follow.

Tobiasen
Opponent Heerenveen will travel to South Limburg on Saturday with a new trainer. Johnny Jansen was fired because of the bad results. Ole Tobiasen has been appointed as interim coach for the remainder of the season. He has been working as an assistant coach in Heerenveen since last summer. Tobiasen played for MVV between 2006 and 2010. He also started as a youth coach at that club. Later he also coached in the youth of Roda JC Kerkrade and was head coach at EHC in Hoensbroek. Between 2018 and 2021 he was (assistant) trainer at Almere City FC.
