The first teams of the North Netherlands Golf & Country Club performed mixed on the opening day of the competition. The gentlemen of the golf club from Glimmen teed off with a 14-4 victory over De Merwelanden, the ladies started with a 13-5 defeat against De Pan.

    ,,We also had to win this match”, said team captain Maurits Noorda after his team’s big victory. “This promises something for the coming weeks. We are well on our way.”

    After the foursomes in the morning hours, the mane of the North Dutch already led 4-2. The duos Noorda/Walt van der Kolk and Kian de Roo/Jorn Tuinman won their match. The couple Julian Dijks/Job Schoenmaker lost. In the singles, Noorda, Schoenmaker, De Roo, Tuinman and Van der Kolk stayed on the right side of the score.

    The ladies of the North Dutch team faced a 6-0 deficit after the foursomes. Karin Jansen and Annemieke van Koppel-Van Noort won their match in the singles. Aniek Martini played right. Amber Bruins, substitute Siene Dresselhuys and team captain Kaylee de Jonge were left empty-handed.

    ,,De Pan was even stronger than we expected”, said De Jonge. “But we also played well. This offers perspective for the next matches.”
